Tabata "Bottom to Bottom" Squat
Run 1 mile
Clock starts for run on rising from last squat.

BEGINNERS
Tabata “Bottom to Bottom” Squat (6 rounds)
Run 1/2 mile

The Tabata Bottom to Bottom Squat is a Tabata Squat but each rep begins at the bottom and ends at the bottom. The turn around at the top is immediate - no pause. The ten-second rest for each interval is also held at the bottom of the squat as opposed to the top. Interestingly, this squat, in contrast to the "normal" Tabata squat, motivates full hip extension. Also, the ten second rests don't seem as short with this protocol!

We will score using the following:
Take two points off your score for each instance of the following “faults”:
1.  Resting at the top.  If you stop at all in the top position -2
2.  Rounding back. If you round your back in the bottom position -2
3.  Propping.  If you use your hands or elbows to prop yourself in the down position or sit on your  hamstrings -2
4.  Chest falling forward - 2
5. Pushing through the toes-2

Do NOT count the rep if you fail:
1.  Depth.  If you don’t go below parallel -0
2.  Extension.  If you have do not fully extend your hips at the top -0
3.  Extension.  If you have do not fully extend your knees at the top -0

Conceivably you could get a zero(or negative) here.  Good form throughout is the ultimate goal.

  1. I'm lost. So there's 6 rounds of how many squats? or is it timed?

I found this on the "comments" section of the WOD--is this what you ladies did today?

"For twenty seconds do as many reps of the assigned exercise as you can - then rest 10 seconds. Repeat this seven more times for a total of 8 intervals, 4 minutes total exercise. The score is the least number of reps for any of the eight intervals."

I assume the run is after all the sets... so you can totally smoke your legs :)

  2. That is exactly what we did today except for the rest you hold a squat position. If you go to crossfit.com you can watch videos of people doing the workout. We are a few days behind the mainsite so you will have to scroll down 4-5 days or so. If you still have questions after watching the video give me a call 815-403-3830 and I will try to explain better

  3. 7 squats - 8:11 run

The squats sucked pretty bad. I had to take a 2 squat penalty the last 4 rounds or so. The run felt really slow but I am super happy with the time. Thanks Renee and Jonna for pushing me to keep running when all I wanted to do was pass out in the grass :)

  4. 4 squats (too many penalties)
    10:05 run

That's what happens when you take too many days off.
